Greater Clemson Music Festival 4/22/2017 - 4/30/2017

In 2011 a small group of people, with a keen interest in blues music, organized what became the Greater Clemson Blues Festival.
With encouragement and direction from Clemson Mayor Larry Abernathy the festival was launched.
It was known as Nothin’ But the BluesFest that year and was held over a three-day weekend.

Realizing the name of the first festival was also being used by other groups around the country, it was decided to change the name to the Clemson Blues Festival. The current name better reflects the location of the event focusing attention on our community. Currently, the event is branching-out to Six Mile, Central, Westminster, Walhalla, Seneca, Pendleton and Pickens.

The inspiration for the Festival comes from Littlejohn’sGrill, a popular African American restaurant/hotel/nightclub that existed just as WWII ended until about 1968. The owners of the Grill were Horace and Gertrude Littlejohn. The Littlejohn’s became famous for their good food and the quality entertainment they brought to Clemson. Dozens of well-known black performers of that era played Littlejohn’s Grill: James Brown, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Otis Redding, and the Supremes to name just a few.

Clemson has a strong association with popular music from jazz and blues to R&B and rock. Over the years groups such as Count Basie,The RollingStones, Eagles, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel and Elton John have performed at Clemson University. Horace Littlejohn worked with students at the school to bring the Drifters, Dionne Warwick, Ray Charles and the Raelettes, and Little Richard to campus. The Greater Clemson Music Festival is an attempt to recreate the days when live music was a big part of the culture of our community.

Gallabrae-Greenville Scottish Games 5/27/2017 6:00 PM - 5/28/2017 9:00 PM
Parade of the Clans.

Massive celebration of all things Scottish.

The Scots brought a lot more to America than just the bagpipes; they brought independence, a fierce fighting spirit, a strong love of family and clan, a quirky sense of humor and enjoyment in their surroundings.
We’re capturing all this and more with an overflowing series of activities bringing the best of Scotland and our rich Southern heritage  together for your enjoyment.

The Greenville Scottish Games anchors Gallabrae, and embodies the finest of Scottish traditions brought to new levels of excellence. We continue our Joint Military Salute to honor our veterans, active duty military, and our Scots allies.

Greenville Scottish Games Furman University Saturday starting at 8:30 AM -- activities for all ages, re-enactment villages, pipers, Celtic rock bands, children's village, (really) heavy athletes, and much more.

The Upstate of South Carolina has, arguably, one of the highest concentrations of Scots-Irish descendants in the country. Our ancestors persevered under incredible hardships to get to the Carolinas, coming north from Charleston and south from Philadelphia and Virginia. When they reached our beautiful Blue Ridge mountains and foothills, they heaved a collective sigh and knew they were home.

We created the Games in 2006 as a tribute to and a celebration of our Celtic forebears.
